It’s Monday!
Yep, Monday at around 12:45am.
What a day.
Turns out there’s some issues with Kid4 at school – its been months now that his roommate has been somewhat less than sterling. And because Kid4 has social anxiety, it’s tough for him to self-advocate. Let’s just say it was a 30 minute call with him, the hall advisors and other peoples. Kid3 was *extremely* helpful as well in helping Kid4 cope – really blessed I am regarding my family.
So I wrote:
Time for a gratefulness post!
And gnope, this time its not regarding my most magnificent colleagues (must do one of those too!) but because of my family.
While parenting is a hero’s journey… so is growing up. And in this day of social media, social anxiety, cyber-bullying, GamerGate and more…
It makes me prouder than ever that my kids are navigating their maturing.
There’s Kid1 – we used to have figurative knockdown-drag out fights regarding how he viewed his high school years. “I know what I am doing!” was the rallying cry; “ummm gnope” was generally my response. And the first 2 years was really really REALLY tough… the kid had to basically rely upon himself and NOT the parents to grow and mature.
One of the best times (for me as a parent) was being told during senior year, “Mom, you were right about everything you told me, growing up. And I was too stubborn to see it – I had to *live* it to realize it).
Our relationship great by leaps and bounds during the kid’s next academic movie (video game designer) and words fail me as to how proud I am of him.

Next is Kid2. Kid2 is still undeniable space alien of our family – they have been possessed by a single-minded focus for art (been drawing since 2007 or so).
Not only that, but they have consistantly been the rock on whom the the siblings can count on, no matter what. Just sheer impressiveness.

Next is Kid3. Zey went to early college at a young age and let me tell you – academics might be great but if you ever consider sending *your* kids off, verify beyond any doubt that student support services are available.
These past few months have seen a massive forward development in maturity and the like (its also one of the reasons why I haven’t been doing as much in my business as before; most of my time is spent these days with family).
Both Kid3 and I recognize we are apples and oranges when it comes to communications. BUT! We’re both learning the best way to actually *listen* to the other, without jumping to conclusions (we’re both guilty of that).
Yes, I do come from the parenting generation that Mom is always right and Mom will never apologize for any Mom parenting goofs – but I am proud to say that I broke that cycle of idjutness from my own Mom and me.

And finally is Kid4. Kid4 (being the most like me) has had the most disadvantages maturity-wise (inherited from me) but these past 1.5 years has seen grand growth (some setbacks) but then also more excellent rebounding from it all.
The thing about my kids is this.
ALL of them bear the seeds of greatness…. and I truly wouldn’t not want any of them to be any different than they are. The challenges they are going thru will burnish them into the glorious adults they are meant to become… and I am deeply grateful to being their mom.
Finally of course is my husband of 25 years. We both come from different parenting styles and that while they sometimes class…
It’s a fact that our children are the very *best* of two grand ethnic origins… and *that* never would have happened, if we didn’t all in love over 25 years ago.
We are all growing and evolving but the base of our relationship/feelings has never changed.

In short, I am grateful to be the mom of the 4 magnificent Ling Kids… and the spouse of my husband of 25 years.
Life. ‘Tis a hero’s journey.

Not 10 minutes into it… Alibaba generated more sales during Singles Day 2018 within 10 minutes… than the entire Amazon Prime Day in 2018!

has all of the interesting data points about it, like:
Alibaba had already generated more sales on Singles’ Day 2018 — just 10 minutes into the 24-hour shopping event — than Amazon is estimated to have reached in its record-setting 2018 Prime Day.
Singles’ Day has topped $6.5 billion in sales already, 20 minutes into its 11/11 event, which kicked off at midnight on Sunday in Shanghai.
For comparison, Amazon’s sales were estimated to reach roughly $4.2 billion over the company’s 36-hour Prime Day in July.
It’s a HUGE deal in China.
And I would reckon… it’s also a grand opportunity to get overseas goods and flip them for a profit in your Shopify stores too!

Yesterday as expected was a much-rest day (yay!). Treated myself well (yay!), and took stock of what my next step in business should be.
Not to mention, I wrote:
“You know, one of things we hear about lots these days in the news is compassion for our fellow folk.
Which of course is good.
Know what’s just a weee bit better?
Having compassion for *yourself* as well.
After all, you cannot pour from an empty cup… nor can you truly be the best possible friend for those you love, unless you can show *that* kind of compassion for yourself as well.
After all, we all make mistakes, we all go thru depressions and such…
And if there’s one thing we all seem to have a PhD in, it is for beating ourselves up for things that you’d totally understand and forgive if they manifested themselves in other people.
Your takeaway?
Be good to yourself. Sure, you might have f*ed up mightily in the past… but the past cannot be changed. It’s over, its done with, it etched up in quick drying cement….
So no.
The past *cannot* be changed.
BUT… it can be used to springboard to the future, armed with what you have learned from your mistakes.
Again – be good to yourself.
Forgive yourself.
And use what you’ve learned… for the better.
